Had my 1 st press pass for this match.
CD Tenerife v Athletic Bilbao
23/09/2009 8pm ko.
A tall order for Tenerife after a 4-0 loss in the previous game to Real Mallorca, and Bilboa not losing a game this season so far, A cautious begining but Tenerife gaining more play and confidence as time went on. Nino has a great strike at goal on 23 mins only for the goal to be disallowed. Possesion is slightly more Tenerife‘s and start to create more chances. They should have been 2-0 up by half time. 2nd half and CDT still hold there own, unfortunatly Ricardo is injured and replaced with Omar. Kome piles on the constant pressure and must have covered every blade of grass. A free kick from Alfaro in the 87th finds the head of Alonso and Tenerife deservedly take the lead 1-0. 5 mins of extra nail biting time is added and Bilbao seem to find another gear, but alas CD Tenerife hold on and the victory is ours…
18,000 spectators 13/09/2009. Tenerife’s 1st home game of the new season in La Liga BBVA. It’s a 4p.m ko in a balmy 29c. CDT are in great sprit and are looking for an important home win.
Both teams creating chances in the 1st half but neither converting into any goals.
Just at the start of the 2nd half Nino slots one in 1-0, to be followed shortly by Pandiani 1-1, but with 2 sending’s off for Osasuna it is not long before Ricardo fires a 30 meter bullet 2-1 CDT, and so the score remained.
